Le Tour de Langkawi: LTdL – A NATIONAL PRIDE

I would like to take this opportunity to announce that LTdL will return to Sabah and Sarawak, after its first and only appearance in 1997. The route will be revealed later but suffice for me to say that after years of absence, the race through Sabah and Sarawak will colour LTdL further with the unique landscapes and people apart from the sense of adventure these two States can offer.

From Kuala Lumpur City Centre to Genting Highlands, Shah Alam, Putrajaya, Marang, Muar, Penang, Langkawi and many other iconic and scenic places, LTdL has, in its own right, reached out to Malaysians from the cross section of society. As the peloton raced along trunk roads from one kampung to another, the fierce competition displayed captured the imaginations of folks who rarely have the opportunity to watch a world-class event live.

LTdL had taken thus far, it has fulfilled much of its original objectives - to showcase Malaysia and Langkawi as a tourism destination as well as a sporting hub. In addition, it has also further raised Malaysia’s stature as a nation capable of hosting world-class events. Indeed, LTdL has surpassed my expectations in all aspects and have recorded many milestones throughout the years.

With this, we welcome back our Title Sponsor – PETRONAS Bhd and it is no stranger to the Malaysian sports scene. For the first time ever, we also saw the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers as the background for the grand Flag Off of LTdL 2019. A sincere thank you to all the sponsors for your generosity and we hope the same cooperation would be extended to LTdL in the future.
