Keep an eye on returning Thai cyclists

RETURNING to the Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) on the back of several impressive results in their three-year history, the Thailand Continental Cycling Team could be the Asian team to look out for when the race begins in Kuching on Thursday.

The team will be led by French-Laotian Ariya Pounsavath, who secured his second-ever overall general classification victory on the UCI Asia Tour at the inaugural Cambodia Bay Cycling Tour a month ago.

The 28-year-old, who became the first Laotian to win the Sea Games road race title in Myanmar in 2013, hopes to continue his consistent form in races in Malaysia following impressive results at the 2014 Melaka Chief Minister's Cup (second), 2017 Jelajah Malaysia (fifth) and 2014 LTdL (16th).

Loh Sea Keong is also in the Thailand Continental Cycling Team.

The Laotian, who registered his first UCI Asia Tour overall victory at the 2018 Tour of Indonesia, will be backed by experienced 31-year-old Phuchong Saiudomsin.

Others in the team are Sarawut Sirironnachai, Navuti Liphongyu, Peerapol Chawchiangkwang, Thurakit Boonratanathanakorn and Malaysia’s Loh Sea Keong.
